GI Jive Festival 2015 @ Various locations throughout Kilkeel and Cranfield | Kilkeel | Northern Ireland | United Kingdom

The week-long B/E Aerospace GI Jive Festival will transport you back in time to the 1940s in Mourne when American Air Force men walked the streets under the rumble of World War Two aircraft such as Flying Fortresses and Marauders.

On Saturday 25th July, do not miss out on this thrilling event at which you will witness historical re-enactments, fly past from local aircraft, walk around an authentic recreation of an American WWII camp and view their vehicles, tanks and weapons on Mourne Esplanade! Learn how to jive to authentic swing music, immerse yourself in 1940s glamour with makeovers and vintage fashion shows.

It will also combine a flavour of our local produce, crafts, annual horse and pony driving show, childrens entertainment, fun fayre and seafood, with seafood buffet, oyster eating competition, seafood cookery demonstrations and much much more. Get into the spirit and dress up in your best 1940s style and glamour with prizes for the best dressed.

GI Jive promises a full programme of exciting events, including tours, talks, childrens activities and recreating the sights and sounds of the WWII American Airbase which was located at Cranfield in the run up to D-Day and VE Day.

For a full programme of the events throughout the week please visit our website. The main event will be held at Mourne Esplanade on Saturday 25th July from 12noon until 6pm.

This is the launch of the new GI Trail, Northern Ireland project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund that will map and promote all the various locations, groups and places that the American GIs were connected to across Northern Ireland.

Thanks to our major sponsors: B/E Aerospace, Tourism Northern Ireland, Heritage Lottery Fund and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
