In Northern Ireland every year over 70 people die due to an accident in the home and almost 70,000 visit their local Accident and Emergency Departments seeking help.
It is estimated that 1 out of every 7 people attending Accident and Emergency because of a home accident is actually admitted to hospital.
The people most at risk of home accidents are, children uder the age of 5 and adults over 65.
A friendly visit from our Home Safety Officer, Ann Finnegan, will help you identify areas of risk in your home and provide you with information, advice and support you need to make your home safer.
The service works in partnership with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) and the local Home Accident Prevention Groups (HAP) in Newry and Mourne, anyone Living within this council area with a child under 5 years of age or are 65 years of age can access this Free and Confidential Service.
